The segments browser allows you to load and filter operational data by date range and segment type to analyse aircraft movements through the airport.

1. Loading data with filters

Data loads using a basic date range filter, similar to any browser. Ground radar tracks deliver a track point every 1 second, which means retrieving or mapping a large number of tracks can cause performance loss due to the detailed track granularity.

For best results, filter on Arrivals and Departures, and exclude any other operation types.

The LFDD includes a tab that allows filtering by Segment Name. The default behaviour returns all segments.

Note: There are distinct segments for arrivals and distinct segments for departures.

2. Understanding segments

Segments describe a phase of the operation's journey through the airport, beginning or ending with runway use and the on-stand position (at terminal or in a designated area). Each operational segment stores:

• The type of segment (on stand, taxi, etc.)
• The time and position at which it starts and ends
• Duration (in seconds) the operation spent in the segment
• The runway associated with the flight

Every flight has a full set of segments to aid analysis and reporting, building a picture of the aircraft's passage through the airport. If there is not enough data to detect a segment (due to radar quality or data loss), the start and end time and position are inferred from existing data.
